The presentation was on “The importance of astronomy to Ghana. The students and teachers were excited to learn more about astronomy. Also present was the Municipal Director of Education for Awutu Senya East, Ms Faustina Alimatu Braimah. At the end of the presentation, the Municipal Director of Education inaugurated the astronomy club for the school.
Teachers who will help to run the astronomy clubs in future were taken through astronomy topics such as Earth/Moon/Sun , Solar System and the Universe of Galaxies, as well as some hands-on activities and demos. Their enthusiasm was impressive, they kept us busy with their many varied and insightful questions.
The PRAGSAC team visited 2 JHS (Junior High Schools) in Accra where we have already established astronomy clubs, to show them videos of astronauts in the ISS, and then initiate discussions on the benefits of astronomy and space science to the lives of those on Earth in celebration of IAU100 Questions and interactions time with…
