About the Project
Project Objective
PRAGSAC seeks to work through school visits and school clubs to give students first-hand practical Astronomy information and an appreciation of the importance and benefits of the Ghana Radio Astronomy Observatory (GRAO) at Kuntunse.
Project Duration
The project set to commence in August 2018 in Schools near the GRAO will involve the design and development of learning materials; workshops, schools visits, formation of astronomy clubs, an interactive website to showcase activities in different schools and the maiden quiz on astronomy for Junior High School students. Students will have the opportunity to visit the observatory at Kuntunse and the planetarium in Accra.
Project Results
The PRAGSAC website will report on activities of the clubs. However, formal monthly reports will also be drafted. The project aims that by December 2018, around 500 students will be have been introduced to astronomy and radio astronomy through initial school visits, and astronomy clubs will have been set up in 4 schools.

Albert K. Forson
Administrator
He is currently an MPhil DARA scholar at the University of Mauritius, working on an array of small parabolic antennas under the supervision of Prof. Nalini Heeralall-Issur, Prof. Avinash A. Deshpande, Prof. Peter Wilkinson, Dr Kumar Golap, and Dr Yashwantsing Surnam.
He graduated from the Regional Maritime University Ghana with a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a Certificate of Proficiency in Health, Environment, and Safety. During his national service at the Ghana Atomic Commission Energy, he worked as an electrical and electronics intern engineer at the Ghana Radio Astronomy Observatory (GRAO) with the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) control and monitoring team between 2016 and 2018.
In 2017/2018, he was a participant in the third cohort of basic radio astronomy and astrophysics training facilitated by DARA (Development of Africa with Radio Astronomy), which was financed by the Newton Fund.
Albert is the IAU Astronomy Education Coordinator [NAEC] for Ghana at the moment and the PRAGSAG’s administrator. He is highly interested in and involved in STEAM outreach education for young people, particularly astronomy.

Sarah Abotsi-Masters

Sarah has gained a wealth of experience in designing and delivering astronomy and science sessions, both in-person and online, including developing curricula, writing course materials and designing and/or adapting practical activities.
Sarah is a member of the Outreach Committee of the African Astronomical Society (AfAS), a National Astronomy Education Coordinator for Ghana for the Office of Astronomy for Education, as well as an instructor and team member of the Pan African School for Emerging Astronomers (PASEA).
Sarah has a B.Sc in Physics from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.

Prince Kormla Dela Kpendo is the Operations Manager for the Institute for Christian Impact (ICI) – an initiative to nurture a new generation of leaders to impact Africa with Kingdom Values. He also serves as the Vice President of EPSU Kisseman local. Prior to these, Prince has served in various leadership capacities on local and national platforms over the past 12 years. He is an author, conference speaker, itinerary preacher, mentor and a leadership development consultant.
He is an alumni of the University for Development studies where he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Applied Physics (Hons) after which he enrolled in the Joshua Leadership program under the tutelage of Titi-Ofei at the Titi-Ofei Center. He is a recently completed the last cohort of the DARA Project.
Prince has passion for outreaches in leadership and astronomy. He spends most of his time reading and writing devotionals and motivational quotes.

Stephen Tete is a BSc. holder in Engineering Physics from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. He loves to teach, impart and equip young individuals with knowledge and positivism. During his preliminary education stages, he was always fascinated by the numerous stars in the sky at night. Surprisingly, what drove his fascination has become his passion. He is a graduate of the fourth Cohort of Development in Africa with Radio Astronomy (DARA) and is currently undertaking an MSc. in the field of Space Environment under a Japanese and Egyptian governments collaborative funding.

Johanne is a Physics graduate from the University of Ghana who has previously served as the general and financial secretary of the Physics Students’ Association of Ghana. She is an active member of the Space Generation Advisory Council and was recently assigned as the delegate team leader for the 6th South American Space Generation Workshop. In addition to this, Johanne is an advocate for Women in Physics in Ghana.

Yakubu Bunyaminu is currently a postgraduate student in the department of Electronics Engineering at Hanbat National University, Daejeon, South Korea. He is a research assistant at the wireless intelligent systems lab.
He obtained his BSc in Telecommunication Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana in 2020.
